BGF appoints former LOVEFiLM and Mothercare chief to lead up-and-coming venture capital fund – The Times

BGF has appointed Simon Calver (former CEO of Lovefilm and Mothercare), along with Harry Briggs (Balderton Capital) and Rory Stirling (MMC Ventures) to lead its new venture capital fund. A £200m cash pot will generate country-wide investments ranging from £500k-£5m, aimed at tech start-ups. BGF CEO Stephen Welton believes this move vitally extends support for start-ups beyond the current ‘London-centric’ market.
