BGF wins PE Deal of the Year at the Northern Ireland Dealmakers Awards

BGF’s investment in Braidwater Group won the Private Equity/Venture Capital Deal of the Year at Insider Media’s Northern Ireland Dealmaker Awards last night.

The award recognised how the recent additional funding from BGF, a follow-on to its initial investment in 2015, enabled Braidwater to join forces with sister company BW Homes & Construction to form the £45m-turnover Braidwater Group.

BGF’s most recent Northern Irish investment, Toomebridge-based kitchen and door component supplier and manufacturer Uform, was also shortlisted for the same award.

Almost £40m of patient capital has been provided by BGF to Northern Irish businesses across all regions of the province over the past four years, including follow-on funding.

Paddy Graham, head of Northern Ireland and Central Scotland at BGF, said: “It’s fantastic that two of our NI deals have been recognised this evening. We’re incredibly proud of the Northern Irish businesses in our portfolio – all of which have outperformed since our investment.

“Since opening our dedicated office here in Belfast, we’ve seen first-hand the investment potential in the region, and the quality of companies that need robust, long-term funding to continue growing. Our goal is to match the amount of funding in Northern Ireland with that of Scotland, where we’ve invested £250m to date.”
