Understanding key strengths and having a formula for success is essential when a chief executive and chairman collaborate to rapidly grow a business.

Barburrito, a Mexican burrito restaurant concept, received its first funding from BGF in 2012. BGF has now £11.35m invested in the company. The company aims to deliver on ambitious growth plans.

Chief executive Morgan Davies opened his first Barburrito in 2005 in Manchester. The company is now the largest burrito chain outside London, with more than 300 employees, serving more than 40,000 customers a week.

To rapidly grow his number of restaurants, Morgan needed a chairman who understood the stages Barburrito had been through, and the challenges ahead.

Graham Turner met with Morgan in May 2014, after an introduction from BFG. Graham had 18 years’ experience in running fast-growing pub and restaurant businesses. He was on the restaurant trade’s A-list in terms of his list of contacts and years of experience in the industry.

Here, in The Telegraph’s Two’s Company series, Morgan discusses how Graham brings a pragmatic, experienced approach to Burritto’s operations and can bring ideas that he and his management team have not thought of before:
