A Wilderness Way (AWW) used growth capital from BGF to expand its property portfolio of care homes, in response to high demand.

Alongside funding, we provided ongoing scaleup support, helping to bolster AWW’s management team, to create a strong succession plan. We also introduced the team to Fiona Lowry, founder of several businesses in the healthcare sector, including BGF-backed The Good Care Group. Fiona joined AWW’s Board as Non-Executive Chair.

During our three-year partnership, AWW more than doubled its freehold property portfolio, from 19 to 45 sites. It also significantly expanded its workforce and enhanced care provisions through educational and therapeutic services, increasing headcount from 150 to 350 staff, to continue driving quality across the business.

With a firm focus on developing talent and providing the highest standards of care, the company also developed its own Level 3 diploma qualification.
