BGF invested £7.5m investment in 2014 and successfully exited in 2021 generating a 2.1x return
- J&B Recycling is at the forefront of waste management and recycling in the UK, providing an end-to-end service for commercial and local authority customers across the North and England and Scotland
- In 2021, Urbaser Ltd – the UK subsidiary of the third largest environmental services provider in Europe – acquired the business as the Madrid-headquartered group aims to continue to grow its UK footprint.
In 2021, BGF invested £14m in Bloom Procurement - the UK's only independent marketplace for the public sector to buy and manage contracts
- Bloom has transacted over 7,500 projects with a value of £800 million, across all parts of the public sector
- Bloom’s marketplace enables public sector buyers across Central Government, Local Government, Housing Associations, Blue Light, NHS, Universities, Schools and Non-Departmental Public Bodies to deliver against their social value goals
BGF invested in the pharmaceutical research and development company Arcinova in 2018 and in 2021 it was acquired by Quotient Sciences, the drug development and manufacturing accelerator
- Marking its first investment in life sciences, BGF invested £5m into Arcinova in 2018. The funding was used to accelerate growth by increasing production capacity and recruiting more staff.
- BGF’s team provided strategic support to Arcinova’s growth strategy, including supporting the strengthening of its board and management team, and recruiting chief executive Roger Kilburn.
