BGF has completed an investment in Wild Frontiers, the award-winning adventure travel company specialising in premium small group and tailor-made tours.
Founded in 2002 by travel writer and explorer Jonny Bealby, Wild Frontiers operates more than 375 tours annually across 60 destinations worldwide. The company has built a loyal customer base, reflected in its 4.9 Trustpilot rating, NPS of 67 and repeat booking rate of 46%.
Under CEO Clare Tobin’s leadership, Wild Frontiers has implemented a growth strategy focused on technology, product development and customer experience. The business has also expanded its responsible travel proposition, including the launch of an off-peak collection designed to support local communities beyond peak travel seasons.
Clare Tobin, CEO of Wild Frontiers, said: “BGF shares our belief that the best travel is meaningful, adventurous and delivered by experts. This investment gives us the platform to bring Wild Frontiers to more travellers around the world, without compromising on what makes us who we are. We are committed to sustainable growth, which is reflected by our fantastic team, our staff retention and the B Corp status we are very proud of”.
Against a backdrop of growing demand for experiential travel, small group tours and premium travel experiences, particularly among over-50s and solo travellers in the UK and North America, the company is targeting a near tripling of annual passenger numbers over the next four years.
Funding from BGF will support the next phase of growth for Wild Frontiers, including further investment in technology and data, customer experience capabilities and further international expansion. The investment also contributes to BGF’s wider £300 million commitment to backing female-powered businesses across the UK and Ireland.
