HeleCloud acquires DataStork
The acquisition brings Cloud-native software engineering and AI/ML capabilities to HeleCloud, as well as a customer base of global players and market disruptors
HeleCloud, a London-headquartered AWS Technology Consulting and Managed Services company with wider presence across EMEA, announced that it has acquired DataStork, a Cloud Software Engineering and AI/ML services company, based in Sofia, Bulgaria. The acquisition was backed by further investment from BGF, which has backed the company since 2018.
The acquisition of DataStork fuels HeleCloud’s ambition to be the leading Public Cloud enabler for European businesses and to empower the Cloud revolution by providing the skills, know-how, tools, and operational capabilities for enterprises and midmarket organisations on the AWS platform. HeleCloud is already one of the leading AWS partners in EMEA, operating at the highest Premier level.
Founded in 2016, DataStork has developed a wide range of technical capabilities covering microservices, IoT and Serverless, DevOps, BigData, backend systems, frontend applications and search. The company has an experienced team of software engineers, developing cutting-edge software solutions for a range of high-profile clients, including Bosch, Uber, HedgeServ and FT. As a Cloud-native software development company, DataStork helps customers innovate, leverage infinite elasticity, optimise costs, reduce downtime and improve application lifecycle management; DataStork’s strengths range from systems architecture through software development and testing to continuous performance and operational improvement practices.
“Every modern business is digital and those businesses that focus on their data and innovate fast to convert this data into value for their customers, and into their own market advantage will be the leaders of tomorrow. The acquisition of DataStork is a natural next step for HeleCloud, on our way to providing the market-leading capabilities that modern organisations expect from HeleCloud. Together, HeleCloud and DataStork will be better equipped than ever to help our customers transform their legacy applications, innovate beyond conventional software to build Cloud-native systems, derive intelligence from their data and grow their business on the AWS Platform” said Dob Todorov, CEO and Chief Cloud Officer of HeleCloud. “The combination of DataStork’s software engineering and AI/ML capabilities with our broad AWS specialist expertise and growing Pan-European footprint will provide our customers with the capabilities that they need to be successful. The acquisition is also expected to result in greater efficiencies and increases our market share, and clearly we’ll make sure that all existing DataStork customers continue to receive the same high-quality services which they are used to and can also benefit from the wider group capabilities”, added Dob Todorov.
“Experienced in scalable IoT, Cloud and Big Data large systems for companies like Bosch, Uber and FT, DataStork is perfectly positioned to extend HeleCloud’s AWS portfolio with Cloud-native software value-added services.
The main challenge in the adoption of the already mature and rich Public Cloud services in recent years is the ability of the hosted software to efficiently leverage those and the management complexity of the composite Hybrid Cloud setups.
DataStork, with its core VMware R&D legacy and AWS know-how, will accelerate the Public Cloud journey of HeleCloud customers through Cloud-native software re-architecting and AI-driven Hybrid Cloud solutions for the leading AWS/VMware stack”, commented Doichin Yordanov, Founder and CEO of DataStork.
The parties did not disclose the financial details of the deal, which was completed earlier this week.
DataStork, which will continue to operate under that name, is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of HeleCloud. The companies have largely coherent portfolios that they will continue to develop and integrate over time.
This is the second acquisition for HeleCloud since they received investment from BGF, the UK and Ireland’s most active investor. It accompanies OlinData, an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner based in the Netherlands which specialises in Open Source Infrastructure, forming part of the company’s ongoing growth across Europe. The acquisition was supported by a follow-on investment from BGF.
