Gi Fernando has joined mission-led Makers Academy as non-executive chair. Makers Academy aims to unlock a new generation of tech talent by identifying high-potential career switchers without a background in technology, retraining them as software engineers, and helping to place them with businesses. It offers courses both remotely and on-site at its London campus.

An entrepreneur himself, Gi will support Makers Academy founder and CEO Claudia Harris and her management team as they continue to promote diversity in tech. A member of BGF’s Talent Network, Gi has a track record of entrepreneurial success, having led numerous businesses to date.

Gi founded Techlightenment, a social media marketing tools provider that was acquired by multinational credit scoring business Experian in 2011, as well as Freeformers, a workforce technology and digital transformation agency for FTSE 100 organisations. Gi is also co-founder and director of ReGenerate, which offers consultancy and support for purpose-driven businesses.

If you’re a BGF portfolio company and seeking board-level expertise or want to learn more about the support that we offer, please get in touch with our Talent Network team.
